Delhi show appeal still strictly domestic

India may have lofty ambitions for its global role in vehicle manufacturing, but the focus of its main auto show remains squarely local, writes Megan Lampinen

India's automotive industry anxiously awaits the unveiling of the Union Budget 2016, which could make or break its ambitious Automotive Mission Plan 2016-2026. The industry, which rolls out nearly 24 million vehicles a year, has a long way to go before it becomes quite the global powerhouse it would like. The Delhi Auto Expo recently brought home just where the industry stands today.
