Daimler’s global production network starts ‘intensive preparations’ for electromobility

Michael Nash takes a look at Daimler’s efforts to prepare for a rise in electrified vehicle sales

OEMs are scrambling to ready themselves for a boom in electrified vehicle sales. Mercedes-Benz recently announced that the first model from its new EQ product brand would enter production by 2020. The battery electric vehicle (BEV) is based on a concept that was showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor Show – a sporty SUV with a range of 500km (311 miles).
