Allison Transmission-equipped Mercedes-Benz Antos debuts at IFAT

With an OM 936 engine at 7.7 litres and 260 kW (354 hp), the 26-tonne Mercedes-Benz Antos recently debuted with a fully automatic Allison 3000 Series™ transmission at IFAT, the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management (May 30-June 3).

With the release of the Allison 3200 model, Daimler AG responded to market demand for improved vehicle performance, reliability and control under severe driving conditions. The flatbed chassis type 2535L 6×2 without body utilises an Allison 3200 model.

Allison transmissions incorporate a patented torque converter for reduced driveline wear and strain, lower maintenance and superior vehicle startability. This feature also allows precise vehicle control for exact alignment with bins and containers, driving on confined space and working at extreme low speeds.

Allison Automatics deliver seamless uninterrupted power shifts for increased average speed and productivity and operator’s comfort. The Allison configuration available in the Antos also features FuelSense®, the latest fuel-saving technology from Allison that automatically selects the optimum shift schedule based on duty cycle and road conditions.

Following the show, the Antos chassis will be integrated to a Faun Variopress refuse collection vehicle body type and be used as a testing and demonstration vehicle at the Branch Information Center (BIC) of Daimler AG in Wörth.
