Russia’s localisation targets look set to be pushed back to 2020

Targets set for minimum localisation rates by 2018 look unfeasible in Russia’s current economic climate, writes Christopher Kenneth

There is a consensus among both the Russian authorities and the foreign OEMs that the 2018 deadline set for most foreign vehicle manufacturers operating in the country to bring their levels of localisation to between 60% and 75% is untenable under current economic conditions.
