Höegh Delhi was the first call to the new Indira Container Terminal (ICT) in Mumbai when she berthed on 26 November

Höegh DelhiA brief reception was held on board Höegh Delhi to commemorate the trial berthing, giving Höegh Autoliners and our India agents; the Samsara Group, a chance to felicitate the Master of the vessel.  A speech of thanks was also given to the Mumbai Port Trust and Gammon India officials who were instrumental in making the berthing of the 200m long and 6 000-vehicle-capacity Pure Car and Truck Carrier a success.

“The trial berthing at the ICT was successfully performed by MV Höegh Delhi thanks to close coordination between Mumbai Port, ICTPL , Höegh Autoliners and Merchant shipping Services Pvt ltd. The  berth is a 700 metre long and 58 metre wide quay that provides ideal space for vehicles prior loading. The berth match up well with international standards of a Ro-Ro terminal.”, says Karolath Gopinath, Head of Area, Indian Subcontinent at Höegh Autoliners

The successful trial berthing opens opportunities for the commencement of regular vessel calls at the terminal, making the excellently constructed port facility to apt utilization. The automobile  manufacturers can benefit from more calls and expeditious loading, accomodating their  consistent growth in exports  whereas  the shipping line would be able to offer dedicated scheduled services with  faster turnarounds, simultaneously relieving  the pressure of congestion at Mumbai Port Trust’s  other berths.
