Magna International Inc. today announced the contract with Daimler AG to manufacture the Mercedes-Benz G-Class at its Graz, Austria, facility has been extended through 2022. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been rolling off the production lines at the Graz plant for 35 years.
In 2013 the 63,000-square-meter G-Class production area was completely overhauled and modernized. The new production area is characterized by a combination of expanded production capacities, leading-edge manufacturing facilities and assembly technologies, and ergonomically optimized workplaces which enable vehicles to be manufactured at world-class standards.
As a result of expanded G-Class models and growing popularity of the iconic off-road vehicle in developing markets, current manufacturing volume for the vehicle is at its highest level.
