After topping the sales of small SUVs in February 2015, JAC’s S3 won the title again in March with 17,329 units sold, climbing to the top of the Chinese SUV category sales list in the first quarter with total sales of 53,679 units. The S3 has attained the enviable achievement of sales growth, not only successfully promoting the JAC’s SUVs but also contributing hugely to the company’s annual sales goal of 300,000 passenger vehicles.
According to data from CAAM (the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers),total sales of passenger vehicles exceeded five million units in the first quarter of 2015, up 11.5% from the previous year. In addition, the cumulative sales of JAC passenger vehicles reached 75,000 units, growing at an astonishing rate of 55.6% year-on-year. At the beginning of 2015, JAC announced its goal of “annual passenger vehicles sales of 300,000 units, growing 75% year-on-year”. Many people thought that goal somewhat ‘capricious’. However, sales in the slow season amounting to a quarter of the annual target have effectively answered any doubts.
Amidst overall rising sales figures, the short supply of the S3 is JAC’s strongest power. Selling 20,157 units in January, 16,193 units in February and 17,329 units in March, the S3 has laid a solid foundation for steadily achieving the annual sales goal of 300,000 vehicles. The accumulated total sales of the S3 broke 100,000 vehicles in less than eight months. With a high quality product and the excellent performance of its marketing and service system, the S3 has enhanced the small SUV admittance threshold, firmly placing JAC in a strong market category position.
Following the powerful momentum of the S3, JAC has released two new SUV models to boost its overall growth. At the Hainan auto show, the second generation of the S5 was launched onto the market. Equipped with a self-developed 1.5TGDI+6DCT platinum drive train, a 1.5TGDI engine perfectly integrating the three major technologies of direct injection, turbo and DVVT, and a 6DCT transmission, the new S5 can accelerate to 100km/h in 9.8 seconds and boasts fuel consumption as low as 7.6L over 100km. With the debut of the second generation S5, JAC expects to gain yet another victory in the hot SUV market through its powerful technical strength.
JAC has also launched a new entry-level small SUV: the S2, bringing a fresh driving experience to young consumers with its intelligent technology experience. The debut of the S2 will further enrich JAC’s SUV line; along with the S3 and the new S5, the S2 will also solidify JAC’s position while the company continues to exploit the potential of the SUV market.
With the second generation S5 and M3 models just getting started and the S3 currently enjoying hot sales, the prospects of JAC in 2015 are still hard to predict. However, it seems increasingly inevitable with each passing month that the sales target of 300,000 passenger vehicles by the end of the year will be achieved.
