Road safety organisation GEM Motoring Assist has appointed Neil Worth to the new position of Road Safety and Motoring Information Officer. Neil joins GEM from Horsham District Council, where he has worked as the Community Safety Officer for the past seven years.
Neil, who has worked within policing and community safety for the past 19 years, says he is looking forward to carrying forward GEM’s innovative road safety initiatives. “GEM has an excellent reputation in the road safety world, and has provided funding for a number of very worthwhile initiatives over the years. I am excited to be part of GEM and I look forward to playing my part in developing new ways for the organisation to contribute to making our roads safer.
“My role also includes assisting GEM’s 70,000 members with queries on all aspects of driving, driver health, traffic law and motor insurance issues. For this, I am pleased to have access to a team of experts who can provide detailed answers where required.”
GEM chief executive David Williams MBE comments: “Neil is energetic and knowledgeable. He is also fully in tune with the principles and aims of GEM Motoring Assist, and I believe he will prove a great asset to our organisation. We will ensure he soon gets out and about to connect with road safety industry professionals, and in the process strengthens the GEM reputation for providing high quality road safety resources.”
Neil, who volunteers his time as a Special Constable, was awarded the Special Constabulary Long Service Medal in 2014, an award presented to special constables who have contributed nine years of service to the police force. He has spent the past two years attached to the Surrey and Sussex Police Roads Policing Unit, where he plays an active part in road safety, both through education and enforcement. He was nominated as regional Special Constable of the Year in 2016.
