In August 2016, Chery’s three major vehicles Arrizo3,Arrizo5 and Tiggo5 successfully accomplished the Summer High-temperature Extreme Testing in Saudi Arabia. The test had a total duration of nearly two months and a total distance of over 15,000 km, including desert, highways, coastline, high mountains, urban areas and other main road conditions. This test is a strict self-detection of Chery’s new products and technologies, and also a large-scale parade of the adaptabilities of its three products under the special weather conditions of the Middle East.
The Chery Company has always been very strict with the quality of its products. Take the desert test for example, in order to help the whole vehicle adapt to different desert weather conditions all over the world, Chery conducted extreme heat tests in Turpan Desert known as ‘The Land of Fire’ , and the ‘World’s Dry Pole’ of Chile’s Atacama desert before testing in the ‘Oil Kingdom’, which shows Chery’s meticulous attention to detail and strict testing standards on new cars. Chery has now accomplished extreme testing in Saudi Arabia, which lays a solid foundation for the adaptability adjustment and future market of its new cars in Saudi Arabia, and also effectively verifies the appearance molding and chassis performance of the new products in road tests.
During the road test, Chery’s vehicle fleets drew the attention of the public several times and attracted them to actively experience. On the way to Al Khobar Desert, the fleets appealed to the passing drivers to stop by. On Taif Mountain Road, the fleets got more attention from tribal people. Even during the short staying at the Red Sea coastline in Jeddah, they attracted a group of onlookers who took photos and expressed their love of the products’ fashionable and dynamic modeling.
Chery effectively verifies the excellent chassis adjustment and engine heat dispersion of its products in such road tests. The Arrizo5 adopts a front Macpherson and back torsion beam suspension structure; when travelling on a relatively bumpy road, the flexible suspension can offset the vibration to create a quiet and stable interior atmosphere. The Tiggo5 adopts a front Macpherson and back multi-bar independent suspension structure; as such, it can easily handle the shaking caused by road joints on the highway. Quoting the driver along for the ride, “Chery’s chassis has good adjustment for stable turning!” Through the all-round road testing in mountain terrain, sandy terrain and other complex terrains, the power, control, stability, comfort, etc. of these products have been thoroughly inspected, which once again demonstrates Chery’s strength in superior quality.
Thanks to Chery’s test system, the three vehicle models performed well in the adaptive road test in Saudi Arabia. Chery now possesses China’s only national engineering laboratory of vehicle energy conservation and environmental protection. It will construct seven laboratories for auto parts, vehicle energy conservation and environmental protection, vehicle roads, power train, passive safety (collision), materials and measurement respectively. It will also build a test track for full vehicle handling stability and NVH calibration. It holds 25 professional modules (nearly 2,000 types) of pilot project capability. The K&C laboratory carefully polishes and adjusts each chassis, which improves the precision of the products and shortens the time of single tests, thereby guaranteeing many test times within a fixed period. This effectively shortens the product development cycle and ensures the quality of each chassis in the process of development. The twenty-four channel laboratories adopt MTS RPC to monitor engine heat dissipation. The adaptability of the engine radiator system under different road conditions can be sufficiently validated by adopting road simulation technology. As such, Chery’s engine heat dissipation system enjoys outstanding performance in the typical tropical desert climate of Saudi Arabia, for which it has gained the high praise of testers. In addition, engineers record large amounts of data during the road tests and give feedback to the Headquarters so as to provide data support for the later readjustment of the products.
At present, Chery is also launching an extreme high-temperature test in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Both the UAE and Saudi Arabia have high temperature climates, but Saudi Arabia has dry air and a relative humidity of 10%, whereas most areas of the UAE are surrounded by the waters of the Persian Gulf, giving it higher air humidity content. Chery conducts further product tests in high temperature and humidity to comprehensively verify the performance and quality of the products in different climates, and help them to finally and fully adapt to the Middle East market.
Through strict self-inspection and adaptability adjustment, these products are believed to meet the individual requirements of local consumers in the Middle East market by virtue of their fashionable and dynamic modelling, as well as the optimized performance of the whole vehicle, thereby winning more public praise. In the future, Chery will also provide its Middle East customers with more high quality products and services so as to further enhance its competitiveness in the Middle East market.
