Eddie Stobart’s Manufacturing, Industrial & Bulk division has taken delivery of a fleet of brand new mechanical offload (MOL) trailers and new EN-XL curtainsiders in support of the new Aggregate Industries business.
Further investment is being made in the Manufacturing, Industrial & Bulk team, with accredited specialist training now under way for the October start of the contract with the Concrete Products division of Aggregate Industries – leading building materials supplier to the construction and infrastructure industry.
The innovative new MOL trailers have been designed to ensure they are best equipped to satisfy the future needs of the industry. They feature the Atlas 92.2–A1 roller demountable crane, operated from the vehicle or the ground, which gives operators much greater flexibility with the ability to select the most efficient and safe offload option. Fitted with a positive rear steer and front axle lift; the combination ensures maximum carrying capacity and on-site manoeuvrability.
The EN-XL rated curtainsiders feature a unique securing system that further enhances safety and decreases loading and unloading times. Both vehicles and trailers are fully compliant to the FORS & CLOCS standards, which, through additional mirrors, signage, cameras and audio warning systems, aim to improve efficiency and ensure the safety of vulnerable road users and site operators.
Since signing the Aggregate Industries contract, Eddie Stobart has initiated specialist training to ensure the most efficient and effective use of the new equipment. As in all operations, Eddie Stobart recognises the value of industry-standard accreditation and as such its in-house MOL driver trainers are fully accredited to provide the industry-recognised Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers (ALLMI) crane operator licence course, and ensure that all operators pass to this level at their own unique, industry-leading training facility.
Alex Laffey, CEO of Eddie Stobart said, “We’re delighted to have formed a partnership with Aggregate Industries and we are eager to help our customers reset expectation with new safety standards, training and equipment capable of performing to the highest levels of quality and safety. The initial investment we have made in the new equipment and in the training of our team supports the growth strategy plans we have for this sector. Having a highly trained, safety aware, customer-focused team operating class-leading equipment all maintained and presented to the highest possible standards is front of mind here at Eddie Stobart, and this partnership is a perfect example of that approach.”
Simon Marriott, Concrete Products Director at Aggregate Industries, comments: “The varied nature of our work requires a very flexible haulage partner with specialist equipment. Our partnership with Eddie Stobart means that we can offer customers a market leading service and enhanced vehicles that will make a real difference to every stage of their delivery. Above all else, safety is our number one concern and these new vehicles are equipped with technology that will help protect other road users, our employees and our customers.”
