Citroën starts a new production line for the new C3 in Serbia

Citroën is starting production of the New C3 at the Stellantis site in Kragujevac, Serbia

Citroën is equipping the New C3 with a new production tool by starting to assemble its best-seller at the Stellantis site in Kragujevac, in central Serbia. This plant was modernised between 2022 and 2024 to accommodate the new Smart Car platform and production of electric models following an agreement between Stellantis and the Serbian Ministry of Economy. The site boasts a high level of quality and productivity, relying on modern, automated and robotised production lines enabling the company to offer a compact, versatile and affordable model produced in Europe.

Everything about the C3 has been designed to enable an attractive price positioning, from the simplicity of its style to the choice of its industrial site, from the new Smart Car platform it is inaugurating to the equipment on board. The new C3 aims to make the car an accessible object of freedom, geared towards energy transition, without compromising on comfort, design, versatility of use and all the equipment expected by customers in this segment.

These are appealing advantages, as the New C3 has already totalled more than 130,000 orders, even though it only arrived in European points of sale in the last quarter of 2024. The New C3 was firmly established in third place in the French and Italian markets at the end of the first quarter of 2025 and took second place in electric car sales in France. 30% of C3 sales since its launch have been of the electric version. Production in Serbia complements production at the Trnava site in Slovakia, which is also home to the New C3 Aircross, which is currently being launched.

The New C3 provides access to mobility whatever the energy source. It is the fourth generation of an iconic Citroën model with a total of more than 5.6 million sales. The New C3 offers even more comfort on board with the adoption of Citroën Advanced Comfort® suspension, which complements the redesigned Advanced Comfort® seats and the C-Zen lounge concept on the dashboard. Adopting the codes of the SUV, it retains the compactness and agility of the previous version, while offering more roominess and easier access on board. Designed from the outset to incorporate an electric offering, it is available in petrol, hybrid offering versatility and ease of use, and electric with a range of more than 320km (WLTP cycle). Its price positioning is a break from the classic offers in its segment.
