On January 19, 2016, The 2015 China Auto Awards themed “Restruction· Tomorrow” was wrapped up at Beijing Phoenix International Media Center. Witnessed by a host of most influential industrial insiders and media members, Tongyao YIN, President and CEO of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., won the Award for “2015 Auto Figure of the Year”.
The 2015 China Auto Awards were hosted by Phoenix TV and Phoenix New Media, organized by Phoenix Auto and specially supported by the auto branch of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.The Awards focuses on China’s auto industry, honors the most influential models in the Chinese market, and encourages the progress and development of auto technology. The candidates for the “2015 Auto Figure of the Year” were nominated by experts and media leaders. After selections and evaluations lasting a couple of months, Mr.YIN met the expectations to claim the title of the “2015 Auto Figure of the Year” at the award ceremony studded with auto tycoons.
The award words for Mr.YIN said, “Chery started from a small workshop 18 years ago and has become a full-fledged enterprise after going through all hardships. Chery has grown from “imitative innovation” to “forward development” and from “wild growth” to an “independent leading brand”. The 5,000,000th unit marks a milestone for a Chinese brand. During this process, a boss always shared wealth and woe with Chery and moved forward with the weight of Chery on his shoulders. He made Chery stand out in the auto industry and grow amid the market slump. He endured loneliness in innovation and succeeded in the end. Through years of practicing, with a serious attitude to and concentration on car building, Chery has concluded that on one hand,the good internal quality of products is the foundation for the long-term development of an enterprise; on the other hand, persistent and independent R&D is the solution for China’s auto industry, said YIN while receiving the award.
In the past 2015, under the “new normal” of the micro growth of the global auto industry, Chery’s global sales grew to 550,100 units, up 8.3 percent from last year, including domestic sales of 464,000 units, up 15.7 percent from last year, 8.4 percent above domestic overall passenger vehicle sales in terms of growth rate. In overseas markets, Chery retained the lead in passenger vehicle exports in China. Take the Argentinian market for example: amid the overall slump of the local auto market, Chery’s sales were up 23 percent from last year. By 2015, Chery had been ahead of other Chinese passenger vehicle exporters for 13 consecutive years. Chery’s strategic transformation, which is based on its international R&D system and aimed at building a “technology-oriented enterprise”, has had great results, boosted Chery’s system capacity, and considerably enhanced the quality of all series products and its brand image.
2015 saw Chery’s transform and accumulation of strength, said YIN. In 2016, Chery will focus on building core strategic models such as the Arrizo 5, continue to implement the strategy of brand globalization and the mission of “Innovative Chery makes you more wonderful”, while moving towards the objective of becoming a “globalized and internationally competitive” Chinese automaker.
