On February 28, 2016, the Tehran International Motor Show kicked off, bringing together over 200 vehicles of nearly 30 brands from around the world. The Show was the first one in Iran after the international community lifted sanctions on Iran, as well as the first one in Tehran, capital of Iran after all these years. Chery MVM showed up with models such as Tiggo 5, Tiggo 3 and E5.
Chery MVM holds the third-largest market share in Iran, behind two state-owned enterprises-IKCO and SAIPA only. Chery continued its booth style which won the “Best Booth Design Award” in the Mashhad Motor Show last year, and invited Iran’s top lighting company to liven up the booth. The exquisite design and gorgeous lighting attracted flocks of journalists and consumers, making the booth the most popular one in the Show.
With the lifting of sanctions on Iran, the Iranian market will be opener than ever and the auto industry will face fiercer market competition, said Zhang Guibing, general manager of Chery MVM in an interview. This requires us to promptly improve our capacity and compete with better products and services. This is a challenge as well as an opportunity to Chery. Since its entry into Iran in 2004, Chery has kept launching quality products and services. With 12 years of accumulation, we believe that Chery will achieve greater success in Iran. Chery MVM’s presence with models including Tiggo 5 fully shows Chery’s confidence in this market as well as its brands and products.
With the lifting of sanctions on Iran, the demand of the Iranian auto market will expand constantly, which is a rare development opportunity for Chinese automakers, especially Chery which has developed in Iran for many years, said He Xiaoqing, Deputy General Manager of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. and General Manager of Chery International in an interview. Based on its development foundation and advantage, Chery will increase its investment in Iran. For example, Chery has worked out a plan for industry park construction in Iran. Based on the plant with an output of 60,000 units, Chery will establish a new automotive industry park with an added output of 100,000 units and supported by key parts, to attract more Iranian automotive parts manufacturers and relevant supporting enterprises to create a regional manufacturing cluster in the park. We believe that this will greatly increase job opportunities for locals, prosper the local economy and make a greater contribution to the economic and trade cooperation between China and Iran.
