The 6.5% rise in new passenger cars across Europe last month came as a surprise to many industry watchers, coming as it did against a generally unfavourable economic background. According to figures from the European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (ACEA), the year-to-date market remains up 6.1% from last year, notably ahead of most OEM's expectations for the full year.
