Interview: Greg Ludkovsky, Vice President of Global Research and Development, ArcelorMittal

Automotive World visited ArcelorMittal's steel mill in Alabama, and spoke to Dr. Greg Ludkovsky, Vice President of Global Research and Development, about how the company enables OEMs to meet their fuel emissions targets.

The new PZEV requirements in the US stipulate that fuel emissions must drop below 54mg, down from an equivalent of 600mg in 2001, a difficult target for every industry player. With these increasing pressures for a more sustainable transport system come many challenges for OEMs. In addition to looking at new technology to cut their emissions levels, companies also need to strip back to basics and consider the weight of their vehicles and just how this affects fuel consumption.
