Deferred demand promises record June for US sales

Industry watchers all expect growth in the light vehicle market for June, though there are concerns over incentive spending and a possible Brexit impact. By Megan Lampinen

The US could be poised for the best June sales result in more than a decade. Edmunds.com is forecasting new car and light truck sales of 1,528,812 units for the month, putting the Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate (SAAR) at 16.9 million. This represents a 0.2% dip from the previous month of May but a 3.8% increase from June 2015. It would mark the biggest June total since 2005 when 1.67 million sales were recorded.
