Shortly after announcing his ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs on 2 April 2025, US President Donald Trump stated that many countries would receive a 90-day reprieve, during which they could broker deals to reduce or remove their assigned rates. That pause is set to end on 9 July, though US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has stated tariffs will actually go into effect from 1 August.
