The question of which powertrain technology will be dominant in ten years has been hotly debated at Automotive Megatrends Europe 2014, with electrification frequently mentioned alongside the more conventional options of optimising diesel and petrol or moving towards lower emission fuels such as CNG and LPG. While hybrids have generally been agreed as the most likely leader in the EV market for the next decade, some companies are looking to make gains with pure electric options including battery EVs and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
Frank Meijer, Team Leader FCEV and Infrastructure Development at Hyundai, used his presentation to outline his view of future mobility today and the realities of mass producing hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, using Hyundai’s ix35 as a case study.
