Studies suggest demise of ownership model greatly exaggerated

While the number of car share and ride share services on offer is expanding, the freedom found only through ownership remains highly valued. By Megan Lampinen

The digital revolution and the rise of the sharing economy have long been flagged as possible threats to the traditional OEM business model. Among younger consumers the warnings were even more dire, with suggestions that they weren't even interested in driving let alone ownership. But recent findings suggest there is still plenty of life, among all age groups, for the ownership model.
