May furthers Australia’s segment restructuring

Buyers don't seem very fussed when it comes to import vs locally built, but they do love their SUVs

SUVs and LCVs continue to propel the Australian light vehicle market, but their momentum has been dampened by a significant decline in the passenger car segment in May. According to Autoteam Australia Consulting's VFACTS May report, overall new light vehicle sales contracted 1.3% year-on-year to 93,327 units, leaving year-to-date sales up 2.5% thanks to growth seen earlier in the year.
