Asia's light vehicle industry reflects a diverse collection of individual markets, dominated by China and India. Excluding these two countries, which because of their size distort the overall picture, the 'Asian ten' (Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand) should see a moderate but steady growth starting next year. But not all markets are developing equally, with much of the problem stemming from government interventions.
