Takata ordered to keep faulty inflators as evidence

Takata has been ordered by US Transportation Secretary Foxx to preserve all airbag inflators removed through the recall process as evidence for cases against the supplier

Takata has been “ordered” by US Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx to preserve defective airbag inflators as part of the ongoing federal investigation into the Japanese supplier’s faulty airbags. The defective airbags can explode with violent force, spraying metal fragments at vehicle occupants, and have been linked to the death of at least six people worldwide.
