West-Midlands-based DPD received three major industry honours at last night’s 31st Motor Transport Awards in London: Training, Customer Care and Business Excellence.

DPD has become a serial winner of multiple MT Awards, picking up no fewer than five awards in 2015.

The B2C parcel delivery specialist continued its impressive growth last year, seeing turnover leap to £829m in the year to 4 January 2015, compared with £692m the year before. In addition to investing in the service it provides customers, DPD improved efficiency by opening five ‘super-sized’ depots across the UK, each of which are 700,000ft2, £1.2m-worth of automated sorting equipment, and the capacity to sort 6,500 parcels an hour.

The past two years have seen CO2 emissions per parcel drop 7.2% and it claimed every parcel sent via its network is carbon neutral.

The judges said the company stayed ahead of its competitors in terms of future-proofing its business and constantly reacting to the changing home delivery market.

The awards, organised by Motor Transport magazine, are the road transport industry event of the year, recognising innovation, outstanding service, efficiency and quality. Winning a Motor Transport award shows that a business has reached the very highest standards, as judged by an independent panel of experts drawn from the industry.

The Business Excellence Award was sponsored by Route Monkey; Customer Care sponsored by Isuzu Truck (UK); and the Training Award was sponsored by Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).  Television and radio presenter, film critic, and actor Jonathan Ross presented the award in front of more than 1,600 guests at the Grosvenor House – A JW Marriott Hotel on London’s Park Lane.
