Tennessee’s automotive industry is a relatively young one, emerging in the 1980s when Nissan announced the construction of its Smyrna plant. Since then, the state has established itself as a centre for manufacturing in the South. Growth has continued in 2015, with investments totalling US$1.1bn across 20 projects.
