Slow, costly and complex – 3D printing, or additive manufacturing, has remained exclusive to prototyping and low volume applications in the automotive industry to date. However, developments in materials, processes and equipment could soon make 3D printing a viable option for the creation of certain car components that have greater annual production rates.
