Mexico is the largest vehicle producer in Latin America and the seventh largest in the world, and there is plenty of potential to improve its spot in the rankings if recent developments are anything to go by. The region has attracted numerous investments from global automotive players, most recently BMW which celebrated the groundbreaking on its US$1bn San Luis Potosi plant on 16 June. San Luis Potosi will build the BMW 3 Series sedan starting in 2019, but many other new projects will kick off before then.
