With AMP II, India lays out the next steps for its auto industry

The second phase of India’s Automotive Mission Plan doesn’t lack ambition, but can it be done?

Launched in 2005, the Indian Government’s Automotive Mission Plan (AMP) has seen an impressive boost in figures for the emerging market’s automotive industry. Between 2005 and 2015, production jumped by 189.6% from 1.3 million units per annum (upa) to 3.8 million upa. Similarly, sales soared by 156% from 1.18 million upa to 3.04 million upa.
