South America's new vehicle market: Prospects to 2019

In 2014, aggregate demand in the major South American light vehicle (LV) markets fell by just over 10%, following a marginal increase to a new peak in 2013. Heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) demand fell by 16% in 2014, following an 8% rise the previous year.

This exclusive Automotive World report looks at the prospects for South America’s new vehicle market, which is expected to see LV demand fall by a further 16-17% in 2015, and HCV demand decline by up to 33%. Beyond 2015, both sectors are expected to return to growth, taking the region’s new vehicle market to nearly 6 million units by the end of the forecast period.
