A new Automotive World report, ‘Navistar production outlook to 2020‘ is available to download from the research section of AutomotiveWorld.com.

In its fiscal year ending 31 October 2015, Navistar sold 84,500 vehicles, a 6.1% decline mainly due to the winding down of its supply of trucks to Ford under the now-ended Blue diamond joint venture.

Nearly five years on from the major reversal of its engine strategy, it remains difficult to discuss the company without reference to this major setback which has caused substantial losses, a loss of share in NAFTA which looks unlikely to be fully reversed and necessitated a pulling-back from international expansion – leaving Navistar very narrowly focused and lacking the scale economies which are helping its larger rivals to outperform.

The report’s author, Jonathan Storey commented: “with Navistar’s share price at a nearly 2-year high, investors are demonstrating increasing confidence that the worst of the company’s problems are behind it. The fact that VW will be holding the company’s hand while it continues along the recovery path is a major underpinning for that confidence and our production forecasts should add to it as we anticipate a steady growth in volumes, concentrated almost entirely in the North American market.’

2016 was an eventful year for Navistar. Download this exclusive Automotive World report ‘Navistar production outlook to 2020‘ to see how the period to the end of 2020 is expected to shape up for the manufacturer of International brand trucks.
