Hans Demant (65), General Representative of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft with responsibility for International Projects, is retiring with effect from February 1, 2016.

The CEO of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, Matthias Müller, acknowledged Demant’s achievements for the Group: “The Volkswagen Group has benefited enormously from Hans Demant’s extensive experience. He coordinated international projects with great foresight, enormous commitment, reliability and skill during the company’s growth phase. We would like to thank him for that.”

Hans Demant is an engineering graduate and assumed responsibility for coordinating international projects at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft at the beginning of October 2010. In this function he reported direct to the CEO. Demant began his professional career at Adam Opel AG in 1972. He took charge of project management for the Corsa model series in 1989, and was given responsibility for the vehicle concept department in the pre-development division in 2002. He assumed technical responsibility for all of GM’s small car projects worldwide in 1997. Demant was appointed Vice President Engineering at GM in Europe in 2001 and in addition named Managing Director of Adam Opel AG in 2004. He was Vice President Global Intellectual Property Rights at GM from January 2010 until his move to Volkswagen.
