In 2012, in Europe nearly one out of five and in Germany one out of three newly registered city delivery vans, transporters and pickups came from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. With 301,000 newly registered Caddy, T5, Crafter and Amarok vehicles, the share of city delivery vans, transporters and pickups (2011: 16.6 per cent) for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles was 18.3 per cent – that was the result of the year 2012.

“We have reinforced our position in the market, a good performance of the whole Commercial Vehicles organisation,” says Bram Schot, Member of the Brand Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.   Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also once again claimed the top position in its domestic market, Germany, which it has maintained over many years, with 127,200 new registrations of city delivery vans, transporters and pickups. That equates to a share of 33.9 per cent (2011: 32.5 per cent) in this segment.

Once again in 2012, the most successful model in Europe was the T5 with 127,600 new vehicle registrations and a 26.9 per cent share. In Germany, the model series also confirmed its top position with 58,700 new vehicle registrations for a 42.5 per cent share in this segment.

In the EEA in 2012, the Caddy model series reached 120,650 new vehicle registrations. In the European segment of city delivery vans, this equates to a share of 22.8 per cent and first place in the competitive field. In Germany, the Caddy was clearly the leader in the segment with 48,800 new vehicle registrations and a share of 48.7 per cent.   In the EEA, the Crafter reached 37,400 new vehicle registrations, which indicates a share of 7.9 per cent and sixth place in vehicle registration statistics. In Germany, the Crafter claimed third place in its segment with a share of 13.2 per cent and 15,461 new vehicle registrations.

In Europe, the Amarok took third place among one-tonne pickups with 15,300 new vehicle registrations and a share von 16.6 per cent. In Germany it was the leader with a 31.5 per cent share and 4,200 new vehicle registrations.   In 2012, global customer deliveries by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles grew by four per cent to 550,200 vehicles (2011: 528,900). In January, the brand could not overcome difficult market conditions entirely, and it delivered 37,900 light commercial vehicles worldwide (39,500; -4.0 per cent).
