Today Fiat Group Automobiles initiated the procedure to inform trade unions on the transfer of the employees and operations of Fabbrica Italia Pomigliano to Fiat Group Automobiles, expected to take place on March 1st. The transfer forms part of a broader corporate simplification process and has been prompted by the fact that certain circumstances, organizational requirements and constraints that led to the formation of a company specifically dedicated to the investment in the new Panda have been overcome.

Fabbrica Italia Pomigliano has successfully completed the challenging investment and production start-up phases for the new model, with the establishment of a highly innovative manufacturing facility that is among the best in the industry. The creation of Fabbrica Italia Pomigliano in 2010 allowed the project to benefit from new organizational and operational rules, agreed with all the trade unions except FIOM, that differ from the “Contratto Collettivo Metalmeccanico” applicable to members of Confindustria.

Following Fiat’s exit from Confindustria, on 13 December 2011 a new independent collective agreement was entered into, the “Contratto Collettivo Specifico di Lavoro (CCSL)”, through which the contractual model for Fabbrica Italia Pomigliano became applicable to all Fiat companies, including Fiat Group Automobiles. The creation of a single legal entity at the Pomigliano d’Arco plant is also intended to constitute a stronger guarantee of future re-employment, when market conditions allow, for those Fiat Group Automobiles employees at the plant who are still on temporary layoff.
