Takata today announced the following statement by Chairman and CEO, Shigehisa Takada, regarding its continued commitment towards product safety.

“We have been working night and day in the areas of research, development and manufacturing in order to enhance the safety of our automotive society.

We deeply regret that the recent recalls of vehicles equipped with our airbags have likely raised significant concerns and troubles to our product users, our customers and other stakeholders. We sincerely apologize for causing any such concerns and troubles.

We are currently in the process of reviewing and analyzing the underlying cause of such problems, in collaboration with our automotive manufacturer customers, in order to further strengthen our quality control and prevent the recurrence of such recalls. We will focus all of our efforts towards taking lead in strengthening our product quality control standards. Furthermore, we will continue to fully cooperate with any inquiries or requests by the relevant governmental authorities or with our automotive manufacturer customers in carrying out the recalls and any other actions in order to ensure the safety and security of our product users.

Again, we deeply apologize for any concerns and troubles we have caused to our product users, our customers and other stakeholders. We are fully committed to promptly identifying the underlying cause of the problems, and to do our best to deliver the safest products to our customers. We appreciate your continued understanding and support.”
