The products of the US Freightliner brand are amongst others well-received by customers in Mexico. The Daimler commercial vehicle division has received two new large orders from Mexican customer operations: Arca Continental ordered 273 and Transmex 96 Freightliner trucks. Deliveries of the new vehicles are starting immediately and will run until the end of the year.
Arca Continental is one of the largest beverage bottling companies in Latin America and headquartered in Monterrey in the northeast of Mexico (state of Nuevo Léon). Arca Continental sees the investment into 273 new vehicles in order to update their vehicle fleet as a way to increase the productivity of its business. The company is responsible for the production, distribution and sales of soft drinks of “The Coca-Cola Company” in Latin America.
Stefan Kurschner, President and CEO of Daimler Trucks Mexico: “The orders position of Daimler Trucks in Mexico demonstrates our ability to offer the right products to our costumers from different industries and meet their individual requirements.”
Besides Arca Continental, the Mexican forwarding company Transmex also relies on Daimler Trucks products. The transport operation is connected to Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) by a partnership already lasting for two years. With 96 new vehicles, Transmex further reinforces the existing transport fleet which already includes 650 Freightliner trucks. The shipping company is a specialist for international freight transport between Mexico and the USA.
José Antonio Gutiérrez, Transmex Chief Financial Officer (CFO):
“The decisive factors for our purchases of Freightliner trucks were the state-of-the-art vehicle technology, the fuel efficiency in long-distance transport and low service and repair costs.” Gutiérrez continued: “We are banking on reliable products in order to offer the best possible delivery service to our customers.”
Daimler Trucks North America is one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of trucks of all weight classes in Mexico, where DTNA operates two production plants in Santiago Tianguistenco (Federal State Estado de México) and in Saltillo (Federal State of Coahuila) as well as an international spare parts center and a sales center for used trucks.
Last week, the 300,000th vehicle rolled off the line in the plant opened in 1991 in Santiago Tianguistenco, near Mexico City.
In November of last year the DTNA plant in Saltillo, which was built with an investment volume of USD 300 million, celebrated the production milestone of 100,000 Freightliner Cascadia trucks since the plant opening in the year 2009.
The production locations in Mexico are an integral component of the DTNA production network in the NAFTA region and for Daimler Trucks worldwide.
