Mitsubishi Motors in the UK and Leven Mitsubishi Edinburgh are introducing movie fans to a new duo of all-action heroes after becoming the official car partner of Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF).

As part of the new partnership, Mitsubishi Motors is supplying a fleet of all-wheel drive Mitsubishi SUVs to transport VIPs and celebrities throughout the 10-day event, which runs until June 30th and is officially the world’s longest continually-running film festival.

Ensuring special guests of the Festival arrive in style at the renowned event’s various venues throughout the city are the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – the UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid electric vehicle – and the Mitsubishi Shogun Sport luxury, seven-seat SUV.

They’ll be no missing their starring roles either, as both vehicles feature distinctive decals that showcase their impressive credentials and the new partnership with Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Highlighting the environmentally-friendly compatibility of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a livery that includes ‘An Electrifying Performance’, while the Mitsubishi Shogun Sport is emblazoned with ‘Gripping. In any setting’ – a reference that halos its ability to deliver a surefooted drive in all conditions whether on- or off-road.

VIPs and celebrities also arrive in comfort as well as style, the Mitsubishi SUVs combining plenty of space with such features as full leather trim and dual zone climate control.

The distinctive fleet was prepared and handed over by Leven Mitsubishi Edinburgh. The dealership is one of the newest additions to the fast-growing Mitsubishi Motors in the UK dealer network and the latest site opened by the family-owned, award-winning Leven Car Company group.

On the new partnership, Russell Borland, Sales Manager, Leven Mitsubishi Edinburgh, said: “When EIFF approached us to be its official car partner, we jumped at the chance. The Festival is one of the biggest, most important and longest established events in Edinburgh, and we’re delighted to support a fellow local business and our community.”

Rob Lindley, Managing Director, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, added: “The Edinburgh International Film Festival is a major highlight in the film industry calendar and has played host to many big movie names and premiered some of the world’s most successful films. We’re thrilled to play our own role in such a renowned event and that the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and Mitsubishi Shogun Sport are once again in the spotlight, ensuring VIP guests arrive in complete comfort, safety and style for when they step onto the red carpet.”

Ken Hay, CEO at Edinburgh International Film Festival, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Mitsubishi Motors and The Leven Car Company to celebrate the 73rd Edinburgh International Film Festival. The Mitsubishi Outlander and Mitsubishi Shogun Sport are an excellent choice for our VIP guests to arrive at film premieres and red-carpet galas.”

Nils Finken, EIFF’s Senior Guest Drivers Coordinator, commented: “The Mitsubishis are perfect for the Festival and our high-profile filmmaker guests. They are elegant, spacious and easily adaptable to our diverse needs, with guests loving the levels of luxury and comfort. All our drivers love them as they are so smooth to drive!”

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV petrol hybrid is available in five trim levels – Juro, 4h, 4hs, 5h and 5hs. It delivers 46g/km (WLTP) CO2 emissions and an official WLTP economy figure of 139mpg. It also has a pure electric range of 28 miles (WLTP), further contributing to a cleaner and quieter environment. A dedicated commercial version is also available.

The Mitsubishi Shogun Sport offers a choice of two trim levels – 3 and 4. Its specification epitomises Mitsubishi’s decades of off-road expertise, while offering superior levels of comfort for up to seven people whatever the terrain. Powered by a 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Shogun Sport can also tow up to 3,100kg. A dedicated commercial version is also available.
