SMMT’s forecast is based on an average of forecasts received from members’ analysts own company views.
2012 actual data New car registrations: 2.045 m units, up 5.3% on 2011’s 1.941 m; 2010 was 2.031 m.
Diesel penetration: 50.8%, 50.6% in 2011, 46.1% in 2010.
New light commercial vehicle (LCV, to 3.5 tonne) registrations: 239,641 units, down 7.9% on 2011’s 260,153 total; 2010’s total was 222,915 units.
SMMT forecasts for 2013 to 2014 – as at April 2013
2013 New car registrations: 2.106 m units, up 3.0% on the 2012 total. Diesel penetration: 49%.
New LCV registrations: 254,000 units, up 6% on the 2012 total.
2014 New car registrations: 2.143 m units, up 1.7% on the 2013 forecast volume. Diesel penetration: 49%.
New LCV registrations: 255,000 units, up 0.2% on the 2013 forecast volume.
