The SAE International Noise and Vibration Conference and Exhibition is the only dedicated mobility noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) event in North America. The 2013 event will be held May 20-23 in Grand Rapids, Mich., at the DeVos Place Convention Center.

Held biennially, this conference brings together leading professionals from around the world to learn about, present and display the latest technologies surrounding NVH and sound quality issues related to design, engineering and testing.

This year’s agenda will examine innovations and advancements in engine, powertrain and drivetrain; heavy vehicle and vehicle exterior; numerical methods; NVH measurement; passive and active NVH control; standards, process and perspectives; vehicle subsystem NVH; and commercial and specialty vehicles. Outside of these sessions, attendees will be able to meet with innovative organizations at the exhibition and exchange ideas with industry peers during networking opportunities.

Keynote speakers will include:

–     Bernard Challen, engineering consultant and inaugural recipient of the SAE International Ralph K. Hillquist NVH Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Challen will talk about automotive NVH career needs; and

–     Alexandre Nunes, senior manager at General Motors Proving Grounds in Brazil. Mr. Nunes will provide insight on NVH development and attribute balance for emerging markets, challenges and rewards.

For interested professionals, SAE International will be hosting several workshops throughout the conference, including programs focusing on sound quality, structure borne NVH, acoustical materials and Fourier analysis, as well as professional development seminars.
