SAE International announces the launch of its new event, the “2013 Vehicle Energy Management and Advanced Powertrain Forum.” The forum will be held October 21-23 at the Doubletree Hotel in Dearborn, Michigan.

This new forum comprises three separate, but related symposiums that can be attended either individually or by purchasing a discounted pass that permits attendance at each of the events.

The first event, held October 21-22, is the “Energy Management Symposium.”  The event will focus on a broad range of technologies, their existing connections, and their intriguing innovations.  The information presented at this symposium is essential to those in the industry, especially considering the evolution of this topic.  Reduction of energy consumption was once a trend in the automotive world; now, it is viewed as a requirement, and a vital one at that.

The second event of the Forum is the “Hybrid Powertrain Complexity and Maintainability Symposium,” which will be held Oct. 22-23.  This symposium will address two of the main issues that are impeding the progress of hybrid vehicles.  These issues are the maintainability of the powertrains, and the possible issues in technician diagnosis and maintenance.  The symposium will also question the necessity of such complex systems for hybrids, and if simplification is possible.

The last day of the Forum, Oct. 23, is the “Electric Vehicle Battery Cell Size Standardization Symposium.”  The goal of this symposium is to address the standardization battery cell sizes that are used in electric and hybrid vehicles.  The importance in this particular event is to set standards in place for individual cells, pack level cells and anything in between.

To register for one or all of these symposiums within the SAE International Vehicle Energy Management and Advanced Powertrain Forum, please contact SAE International’s Customer Service at CustomerService@sae.org or call 1-877-606-7323 (U.S. and Canada) or 1-724-776-5970 (Outside U.S. and Canada).

If you register prior to October 4, 2013, you will receive an additional discounted rate.  For more information about the events, visit: http://www.sae.org/events/vem/.
