SAE 2013 World Congress Achieves Success by “Achieving Efficiency ” – 2014 World Congress Host, Theme Announced

Chrysler Group, LLC, was host company for a successful 2013 SAE World Congress that featured technical programs presented by leading engineers; panel discussion from some of the automotive industry’s top thought leaders, a Ride-n-Drive featuring some of the most technically advanced vehicles, an Innovators Only Exhibition showcasing product technology, and peer-to-peer networking opportunities offering valuable industry solutions.   The theme to the SAE 2013 World Congress was “Achieving Efficiency.” In addition to Host Company Chrysler Group, LLC, ZF served as Tier Strategic Partner for the event.   The SAE 2013 World Congress, by the numbers, included:

– 10,558 attendees from 46 countries; including significant representation from Korea, Germany, Japan, China, United Kingdom and Italy

– 18 OEMs;

– 170+ exhibiting companies;

– 43 sponsors; and

– 1,364 technical papers.

The technical papers again included the “Chat with the Experts” networking sessions, which have been well received by attendees.

The 2013 Ride-n-Drive featured 20 different vehicles, including a Fiat 500L and Fiat B. Over the three-day World Congress, more than 1,200 attendees participated in the Ride-n-Drive.

Sergio Marchionne, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chrysler Group, LLC, delivered the keynote address at the World Congress Annual Banquet. Other keynotes during the week included Mary D. Nichols, Chair, California Air Resources Board; George T. Whitesides, CEO and President, Virgin Galactic; and Robert A. (Bob) Lutz, Retired Vice Chairman, General Motors Company

“The 2013 SAE World Congress was a success in many ways. We are seeing the continued evolution of the event; an evolution that makes it remain an important part of the automotive engineering industry,” said Patti Kreh, manager, engineering meetings, SAE International. “Attendance continues to increase; the number of exhibitors continues to increase; the quality of technical discussions is improving and attendees are very happy with the number and types of networking opportunities.  The SAE World Congress, like the automotive industry, is getting stronger.”

World Congress officials also announced that Hyundai Motor Company will serve as Host Company for the SAE 2014 World Congress. The theme of the event will be “Creating New Possibilities.” Mr. Chung Kook Park, Executive Vice President, Hyundai Motor Group, will serve as General Chair. During the 2013 Annual Banquet, he announced that Delphi Automotive will serve as the Tier One Strategic Partner for the 2014 event to be held April 8-10 at Cobo Center in Detroit.
