Renault’s commitment on sustainable transport for all dates back more than twenty years. In 2007, Renault was the first carmaker to launch a label —eco²— that would provide customers with at-a-glance identification of the vehicles with lower CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

Renault is now announcing a new label under an ongoing policy on shrinking its environmental footprint. For reasons of consistency the name is the same, but for today’s ECO2 label the criteria have been toughened up. The new ECO2 label is thus more meaningful to the motorist and closer in line with their demanding expectations. For each Renault model, the ECO2 label identifies a selection of versions per model having the lowest CO2 emissions levels.

The new ECO2 label illustrates Renault’s continuous-progress drive on reducing CO2 emissions from its internal-combustion vehicles.

It also fits in with Renault’s wide-reaching environment policy, which seeks a worldwide carbon-footprint reduction of 3% per year per vehicle sold on average, and steady reductions in environmental footprint for each successive generation of each model, across the whole vehicle lifecycle from the drawing board to the scrapyard.
