Renault and KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, have signed on November 21st a new European frame agreement. Renault will become of the main suppliers of the 10,000 vehicle fleet. Renault will provide a full range of vehicles to KONE in several European countries for three years starting 2013.

KONE selected Renault for its wide product lineup including the electric vehicles, the total cost of ownership of its products, and the sales network quality and density. The highest volumes are expected in France, Russia, Spain, Belgium and Sweden. In France, through the agreement, Renault will become the core supplier for KONE with approximately 800 vehicles per year, all delivered by Renault Retail Group Nice.

30% of the vehicles will be passenger cars and 70% light commercial vehicles. KONE made also this selection for the existence of Renault Tech, the business unit entirely dedicated to the alteration and customization of vehicles and accessories created in 2008.

The focus will be put on low emission vehicles. The product range stretches from passenger cars in the A to the D segment and commercial vehicles, including electric models.

The contract will last until end of 2015.

“We are proud of having been chosen by KONE for our capacity of providing tailor made vehicles in cooperation with Renault Tech”, says Uwe Hochgeschurtz, Vice President, Corporate Sales Division of the Renault group.

“Altogether, 35% of KONE’s operational greenhouse gases are emitted by our global service vehicle fleet. Renault shares our passion to continuously look for new and innovative ways of reducing the carbon footprint of our vehicle fleet without compromising the safety of our drivers and other road users”, says Juha Räisänen, Senior Vice President, Delivery Chain and Sourcing at KONE.
