Nissan today launched the new Qashqai in the Chinese market through its joint venture in China, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFL-PV).
With a starting price of RMB 139,800 (USD 22,368)*, the new Qashqai is a fun-to-drive crossover boasting a sophisticated exterior design and a premium feel inside. Qashqai is a superb ride that Nissan expects will be met enthusiastically by young Chinese automotive lovers, particularly in the country’s urban areas.
Agile driving pleasure
The new Qashqai is built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s Common Module Family platform architecture. Its powertrain is calibrated to deliver optimum power with the optional 2.0-liter or 1.2-liter turbocharged engine through the new-generation Xtronic Transmission with 7-speed manual mode. To elevate the driving experience, the new Qashqai adopts independent suspension and an array of advanced technologies, including ARC (Active Ride Control), ATC (Active Trace Control), AEB (Active Engine Brake), Double Modes EPS (Electric Speed-Sensitive Power Steering) and IPA (Intelligent Parking Assist).
Designed in Europe, the new Qashqai’s dynamic and athletic style illustrates the latest Nissan design language from the iconic V-Motion grille to the boomerang LED headlights. Its class-leading wheelbase of 2,646mm provides generous space for the driver-centric cockpit, as well as for passengers, while the zero-gravity seats further enhance comfort.
The new Qashqai comes with a host of innovative technologies, such as the signature Nissan Safety Shield – a suite of safety systems that includes FEB (Forward Emergency Braking), EAPM (Emergency Assist for Pedal Misapplication), AVM (Around View Monitor), MOD (Moving Object Detection), LDP (Lane Departure Prevention) and BSW (Blind Spot Warning).
Global segment leader taps Chinese urbanites
“With its outstanding exterior design and functions, the new Qashqai is set to be another game-changer in the Chinese market,” said Susumu Uchikoshi, Managing Director of DFL-PV. “We expect the new Qashqai to impress Chinese consumers and contribute to DFL-PV’s leadership in the market.”
The first generation Qashqai, a pioneering crossover vehicle, was introduced to China in 2008. Cumulative sales from launch in March 2008 through July 2015 totaled more than 600,000 units. The new Qashqai has been called a “game-changer” in Europe, with more than 1.8 million units sold in the region. Qashqai was awarded “Car of the Year” in the small SUV segment last year and “2015 Best Small SUV” this year by What Car.
