Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. will install a new multi-view monitor system on specially equipped Atlas F24 dry and refrigerated vans starting January 25 throughout Japan. The multi-view monitor system is an advanced technology from Nissan that was first displayed in an exhibit at the Tokyo Motor Show and Tokyo Truck Show in 2011. It is an advanced version of the around-view monitor for passenger cars that has been modified especially for trucks.
Cameras installed at four points on top of the truck carriage take images of what’s around the vehicle. These images are displayed on a high-mount monitor installed in the upper part of the cab interior, and help convey to the driver information about the exterior situation.
The images displayed switch automatically according to the situation. In drive mode, for example, Rearview Mirror View displays the same image as a rearview mirror would. The reverse mode, Top View – helpful in parking situations – displays what you would see if you were looking down from the top of the vehicle.
Further, Roof View displays images from the top of the back of the vehicle and enables the driver to check for overhead clearance, while Rear View displays images from the back of the vehicle and helps identify any obstructions behind the vehicle. When operating the turn lever to turn left or right, the Side View displays images around the sides from the front to the back of the vehicle and is especially handy for preventing possible collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians.

“The multi-view monitor system, which is one of Nissan’s leading technologies, is a new visual system for trucks that provides customers with greater convenience in a variety of truck-driving situations,” said Nissan Corporate Vice President Hideto Murakami, responsible for the Global LCV Business Unit.
“With the new system, we expect that our customers will experience more driving efficiency,” added Murakami. “This is just one example of Nissan’s commitment to continuing improvements to our products that will add value for our customers.”
