IT-Trans, an international conference and trade fair on innovative and intelligent solutions for public transportation, will take place in Karlsruhe from March 6 to 8, 2018. moovel Group GmbH will be presenting its product portfolio at stand F6 in the dm-arena. In addition, visitors will be able to use its new on-demand ride sharing service during IT-Trans.

moovel Group GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, has made it its mission to simplify mobility in cities. It is working on an operating system for urban mobility that offers access to suitable mobility options – options that are digital, networked, and on-demand. “IT-Trans is one of the most important public transportation trade fairs for moovel. It is ideally suited for presenting our products and technologies to transit authorities and cities and speaking with them,” says Daniela Gerd tom Markotten, CEO of moovel Group GmbH.

On-demand ride sharing service during IT-Trans

Together with the Karlsruhe Transport Authority (KVV), moovel will pilot its on-demand ride sharing service during IT-Trans. From March 6 to 8, 2018, visitors to the trade fair will be able to take advantage of the supplementary mobility offer in the Karlsruhe city center for free. Passengers can book their ride via the KVV.mobil app. They will then be picked up by a van at their location and taken to their destination – convenient and with no need to check a fixed timetable. The ride sharing service is based on moovel’s on-demand platform, which uses intelligent routing and pooling of ride requests to ensure the efficient use of a flexible, on-demand vehicle fleet. An algorithm pools ride requests so several passengers can share a single vehicle (a concept known as “ride sharing”). The routes are equally dynamic, and departure and arrival times as well as optimal starting and end points are also determined individually.

The on-demand ride sharing service is available on Tuesday, March 6, and Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 8 a.m. to midnight, and on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Passengers can get in and out at more than 100 virtual stops in the Karlsruhe city center. There is also a stop within walking distance from the entrance hall of the dm-arena. The pilot operation includes a competition during IT-Trans, which will give visitors to the trade fair who take even just a single shuttle ride the chance to win an Apple Watch. Further information on the terms and conditions as well as prizes can be found at www.int.kvv.moovel.com/en/it-trans.

Stand: Focus on moovel on-demand and moovel transit product portfolio

Visitors to IT-Trans can also learn more about the moovel transit product portfolio at the moovel stand. With its moovel transit product portfolio, moovel offers transit authorities and agencies white-label solutions. The applications enable mobile ticketing directly via smartphone as well as the integration of additional mobility offers, such as car sharing. Karlsruhe is the first city to use the moovel Group’s mobile-ticketing solution, which, in addition to purchasing tickets from the local KVV transport authority, allows users to look for and book rental bikes from the regional bike-sharing provider “Fächerrad” in the app. moovel will also be offering information about the Fare Connect and SSB BestPreis apps at the trade fair.

The IT-Trans trade fair serves as an opportunity for companies and partners from around the world to gather and engage in a professional exchange. Over 200 national and international companies will be at the trade fair, presenting decision-makers from transit authorities with innovative technologies, pioneering products, and the latest trends in public transportation. More than 5,000 visitors from over 60 countries are expected at IT-Trans, which provides them with an opportunity to learn more about developments in public transportation and discuss improvements to quality of life.
