Last week, Interstate Mitsubishi of Erie, Pa., a top ten Mitsubishi Motors dealer in the United States in terms of overall sales, welcomed Gayu Uesugi, chairman and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) to its dealership. The visit was part of a day-long tour that included an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at Hamburg Mitsubishi, a new, Upstate New York based dealership. Joining Mr. Uesugi on his trip was MMNA executive vice president Don Swearingen.
Interstate Mitsubishi and Hamburg Mitsubishi are both owned by Joe Bizzarro, who has been a part of the Mitsubishi dealer family for eight years and is now a top ten dealership for the Mitsubishi Motors brand.
“Our dealer network is an extremely important part of our business, and we want to personally recognize those dealerships who are playing an integral role in the success of the Mitsubishi Motors brand,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president, MMNA. “We pride ourselves on developing win-win business partnerships with our dealerships. The longevity of Joe’s relationship with the Mitsubishi brand, as well as his opening of a second Mitsubishi dealership in another state shows that our dealers are profitable and excited about the future of Mitsubishi Motors.”
MMNA has reported year-over-year sales increases for the last 19 consecutive months, and September marked the sixth consecutive month of double-digit sales increases with the Outlander Sport and new 2016 Outlander leading the way. MMNA sales are up an average of 25.5 percent nationwide year-to-date, marking a strong upward trend for the brand that is expected through the end of the year.
