Magna International Inc. announced today that its Magna Steyr operating unit has reached a significant milestone — 1,000,000 vehicles produced for the BMW Group from its assembly line in Graz, Austria, since 2003. This impressive figure includes BMW X3, MINI Countryman and MINI Paceman vehicles. Magna Steyr has been BMW’s strategic contract manufacturing and engineering partner for all three models.
“This milestone shows the comprehensive trust in our capability as a vehicle contract manufacturer and the commitment our employees have toward world class quality, ensuring that every vehicle completely satisfies the most exacting standards,” said Günther Apfalter, President Magna Steyr and Magna International Europe.
The successful co-operation began in 2001 with the contract for the BMW X3 and has continued seamlessly with the production of the two MINI models which started in 2010. At the start of this year, Magna Steyr and the BMW Group signed a new contract ensuring that the successful partnership between BMW Group und Magna Steyr will continue after the end of the current manufacturing contract for the MINI Countryman and MINI Paceman.
