Magna International Inc. announced its Magna Seating operating unit has received the General Motors 2012 Supplier of the Year award for delivering innovative technology, superior quality, timely crisis management and competitive, total-enterprise cost solutions. The 21st annual awards were given during ceremonies on March 13, 2012, in Detroit, Michigan.

“General Motors is a valued customer and we are honored to receive the recognition this award represents,” said Mike Bisson, president of Magna Seating. “The dedication of the Magna Seating team and our collective focus on world-class manufacturing continues to strengthen the partnerships we have with our global customers.”

The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honored 83 suppliers out of a global supply base of approximately 18,500 for their outstanding performance throughout 2012.

“Suppliers play a critical role in our business and we’re thrilled to recognize those we consider to be world-class,” said Grace Lieblein, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “Each winning company consistently exceeded our expectations by being innovative, delivering high quality products and services on time, and by creating outstanding value.”
