Presenting carbon-fibre usage in serial production
Magna International Inc., a global automotive supplier and leader in exteriors, will present successful lightweight construction methods at this year’s international Plastics in Automotive Engineering VDI conference taking place in Mannheim from 9-10 March. Magna will demonstrate the usage of carbon-fibre in serial production which can help reduce a vehicles weight and enhance its performance.
Magna will make two case-story presentations on March 9 including:
- A Carbon-fibre hood for the luxurious and high-performance Cadillac V series during the session entitled Class A Compression-Molded Carbon Fibre Hood at 12 pm. The hood, which is significantly lighter, provides excellent surface quality and high dimensional stability. Magna is the first automotive supplier to mass-produce carbon-fibre hoods which will be available for viewing during the accompanying trade exhibition at Magna’s booth at stand 32 and 33.
- The world’s first innovative, lightweight carbon-fibre front splitter for the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 during the session entitled Injection Molded Carbon Fibre Grill Opening Reinforcement at 3:30 pm.
The front splitter enhances not only the stiffness and dimensional stability of the vehicle, but also contributes to a significant reduction in weight and increased vehicle performance.
The Plastics in Automotive Engineering VDI conference will take place for the 40th time this year and is one of the most important industry events in Europe.
