Everything on the ground of Shanxi Province turns into green in May, and Taiyuan, the Dragon City is now filled with energy and vitality. On the morning of May 20, JMCH • Ford Engine Program Kick-off Ceremony was grandly held in Taiyuan. Around 600 people of all walks of life – including Li Xiaopeng, the Deputy Secretary of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Shanxi Provincial Governor, Chen Chuanping, the member of the Standing Committee of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee, Ren Runhou, the Vice Provincial Governor of Shanxi, Lian Yimin, the Secretary General of Shanxi Provincial Governemtn, Bai Xiuping, the Deputy Secretary General of Shanxi Provincial Government, Geng Yanbo, the Deputy Secretary of Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Taiyuan City, Wang Fu, the Director of Shanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Hu Yuting, the Director of Shanxi Provincial Economic and Information Commission, Guo Changqing, the Head of Shanxi Provincial Environment Protection Department, Chen Hecai, the member of the Standing Committee of Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee and Secretary General, Liu Bin, the Director of Management Committee for Economic Technology Development Zone in Taiyuan, Wang Xigao, Chairman of JMCG, John Lawler, Chairman and CEO of Ford Motor Company (China), York Chen, President of JMC attended the kick-off ceremony. Zhang Jinwang, the member of the Standing Committee of Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, presided at the ceremony.
Nine months ago, JMC successfully restructured Taiyuan HT, and completed the strategic layout of manufacturing all-series commercial vehicles, which blew the horn of progressing from light commercial vehicle manufacturer to heavy truck industry.
After efficient planning, JMCH introduced the world advanced engine for heavy duty diesel vehicles from Ford. The total planned area for the engine program is 280 mu. At the first phase, engine cylinder block / cylinder head machining and assembly lines as well as relevant facilities will be constructed with annual design capacity of 10,000 engines, which is estimated to be put into operation on the second half year of 2015. JMC BOD has approved of around RMB 500 million as the investment for heavy truck engine program.
Brand-new heavy truck engines that JMCH plans to manufacture have the advantage of world-level leading technology, and will have strong core competitiveness after launch with their extraordinary characteristics of environmental friendliness and energy-saving, as well as excellent quality, which will become the new power for JMCH’s development.
At the Kick-off Ceremony, Wang Xigao, JMCG Chairman, pointed out that, JMCH • Ford Engine Program is an important achievement of the deepen strategic cooperation between Ford and JMC. On the one hand JMC will invest huge amount of capital and excellent engineering team, and on the other hand, Ford will provide advanced technology and robust technical support. We hope that JMCH will accelerate the quality improvement of existing products and bring in innovative principle of management, and meanwhile, speed up the R&D of new heavy truck technology and new product launch.
The kick-off of JMCH • Ford Engine Program has got strong support from Ford Motor Company. John Lawler, Chairman and CEO of Ford Motor Company (China) said in the speech that Ford would provide JMCH with all-round support on product technology and management etc., so as to help JMCH become Ford’s major heavy vehicle production base throughout the world in the future.
As the major program of Shanxi Taiyuan development of restructuring and transforming and of Taiyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone, JMCH • Ford Engine Program has been concerned and supported by the government of all levels. Administrative Committee of Development Zone completed the process of construction area selection and land transfer during a short period of time, and will satisfy the land demands of component enterprises in the land planning of the region. Meanwhile, the comprehensive and favorable service will be provided. Geng Yanbo, the Deputy Secretary of Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Taiyuan City, stated in the speech that developing the modern equipment manufacturing with auto as the focus is a significant strategy for the transformation development of Taiyuan and also the City Dream of Taiyuan. Taiyuan Municipal Government hoped that JMCH can propel all total vehicle project construction while accelerating the phase one construction of engine program, so as to manufacture the new heavy trucks in Taiyuan as soon as possible.
Departments of all levels in the whole city should ensure the completion of the program as soon as possible with good service, environment and efficiency and make new contribution to leading transformation development and building first class provincial capital city.
Before the ceremony, the leaders of Shanxi Province and Taiyuan City met the senior management of JMC and Ford, after that, they watched the display of engine program effect.
