Industry honour for Mercedes-Benz Vans UK MD Steve Bridge

Mercedes-Benz Vans UK Managing Director, Steve Bridge, has been inducted into the What Van? Hall of Fame 2019

Mercedes-Benz Vans UK Managing Director, Steve Bridge, has been inducted into the What Van? Hall of Fame 2019 in recognition for his services to the industry.

Steve collected his award today at the annual What Van? Awards, which took place at The Brewery, London. The Awards are decided by its expert editorial panel comprising decades of experience in the industry.

Having been a customer of the brand for more than a decade before he joined it, Steve has worked for Mercedes-Benz UK since May 2000, joining as Regional Fleet Sales Manager and quickly progressing to become the National Fleet Sales Manager.

Three and a half years later, Steve took on the role of Sales and Marketing Director, effectively responsible for the Mercedes-Benz van business unit in the UK.

In January 2014, he became Managing Director of the Mercedes-Benz Vans brand, responsible for both Sales and Customer Service in the UK, and in January 2017, Steve headed up the newly-formed Board of Management for Mercedes-Benz Vans UK Ltd as Managing Director, when the brand became its own legal entity.

Commenting on Steve’s place in the Hall of Fame, James Dallas, Editor of What Van?, said: “‘Steve Bridge’s willingness to embrace new technology on behalf of customers and to move not just with, but ahead of the times, has established Mercedes-Benz Vans as one of the most innovative brands in the LCV market.”

And in recognition of the innovation, the new Sprinter has also been crowned Large Van of the Year 2019. James explained: “The new Sprinter is comfortable, refined, packed with safety features and points the way forward for fleets with its connectivity kit. With front-wheel drive added it is now a more compelling choice than ever.”

Steve commented: “I am so honoured to have received a place in the What Van? Hall of Fame. I love this industry, having worked with vans my whole career, and I’ve seen so much change take place during that time, but the future of the industry is now what excites me the most. The industry will change more in the next five years than it has in the last 50 and I’m very proud to be at the forefront of that.”
